Keeping track of housewarming gifts
We had a delightful housewarming party on Saturday, with many dear friends. Some of them brought presents. Some of the presents had no tags. At the end of the night we opened the lovely gifts and cards, and were left with a few mysteries.
If you gave us a housewarming present, thank you! If you aren’t sure you put a tag on it, feel free to let us know what was from you!
Anyone have suggestions about the best way to handle such events?
It didn’t seem right to open presents right as people walked in the door. Instead, it seemed appropriate to focus on them – hanging up their coats, showing them the food, etc. I suppose we could have marked gifts, discreetly, ourselves.
And now that we’re in this situation, how do we tactfully ask around, “Did you give us a housewarming present? If not, that’s fine – we’re just glad you came! If so…what was it?”
